THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES IN THE 31ST CENTURY #17Written by J. Torres; Art by Sanford Greene; Cover by Alexander Serra
A distress call from a stranded United Planets ship pits the Legion against a gang of Thanagarian pirates – and they're not exactly carrying on Hawkman's heroic legacy! The team will have to call in the big guns, but their best hope is 1,000 years away.
Writer's Commentary:
This is the first of three issues in what I refer to as my "Flight Ring" arc. Each story is a stand-alone issue, but they come together to form a bigger drama. I don't want to spoil too much, but in the immortal words of Janet Jackson, "it's all about control." Unfortunately, we ran out of room and had to cut out the dance number featuring Starfinger...

Rumor has it that the book is cancelled with issue 20, do you know anything about that?
Unfortunately, that looks to be the case.
Will you be doing anything with post season 2 Brainiac 5 before the end, J?
The Brainiac 5 in this arc is the post-season two one, however, he's pretty much the same as the pre-finale one. We just didn't get the chance to fully explain where he went and how he got back to "normal." There's a quick mention of this in #19 and you'll see in the arc how he's changed (or not)...
Oh... I had hoped you'd try your hand at human Brainiac 5, and do a story or two about him seeking redemption for the events of the series finale.
But the next few issues sound cool.
One of the other writers was originally going to tackle that, but alas...
